Dear Patients,

I have had the honor to practice Internal Medicine for 25 years. It has been a privilege to care for and get to know every one of you as patients and individuals. I am excited to introduce a new service to enhance and improve our patient’s healthcare journey. Please read carefully as this change requires a response from you.

First, I would like to say a few words about “Time” and “Relationships”. These are the most precious commodities not just in medicine, but in life. Sufficient time allows me to improve my interventional techniques, learn new procedures, and improve outcomes. Time enables us to weigh and implement interventions that reduce use of medications and unwanted procedures. Without sufficient time, I am unable to optimize your healthcare options. It is only with time that we can develop the critical relationships where we truly get to know each other, share information, and more deeply discuss your health.

Unfortunately, healthcare insurance plans that reimburse healthcare services in the US are not designed to maximize my time with you. In fact, the opposite is true: the plan’s financial motivation is to restrict my time and reimbursement to “medical necessity”. I’ve faced a persistent dilemma: how to deliver the high-quality care my patients deserve while navigating the constraints of a healthcare system primarily driven by insurance reimbursement.

I have concluded that it is time to change the way we practice and evolve the way we deliver care to you. Rather than closing our doors or joining corporate medicine as many doctors have, I have decided to create a better alternative for us all: concierge medicine. This “concierge” model of medicine is rapidly becoming the future model for premier healthcare in the United States. This model has an entirely different DNA from health insurance plans. Rather than focusing on medical necessity, this model reflects investment in prevention, health advocacy, relationships and improving outcomes.

Our subscription “concierge-like” service will allow me to be your advocate and to help you navigate through the complexity of management options and make better decisions. This will improve outcomes and help us continue to build the doctor patient relationship that is at the core of primary care medicine. We are making a wide range of improvements to the practice and the service experience. We are expanding our team, bringing in new technology, and offering an array of new diagnostic tools all aimed at optimizing your health and satisfaction.

Today we manage the care of over 2,500 people. Like many doctors in our overcrowded system, I have had to accept that this is neither sustainable nor fair to my patients. To ensure sufficient time for us to work together as a team to reach your healthcare objectives, I have made the difficult decision to reduce the size of our patient panel by roughly 90%. I am dedicating my time and focus on the first 250 subscribers that are seeking care well beyond what healthcare plans can offer. While I hope that someday the US addresses its healthcare system deficiencies, we are not waiting for this to happen.

We will accept the first 250 patients that subscribe between now and November 15 th on a first-come, first served basis. Remaining patients will be added to our waiting list.
